The first spot we went to was El Jardine del Virgen (The Garden of the Virgin). It is said that the Virgin Mary once appeared to a Cuencan girl; the Virgin appeared in this spot because of her image that you can see on top of the mountain. My mom explained to me that God put it there to honor her. He also blessed the water of the stream that runs down from the mountain. I was told that if you have faith and drink this water, it will heal any minor injury or sickness. Although I'm not sure of this water's healing powers, it did taste amazing. It was so fresh and pure. I loved it!
The other spot we went to was the lagoon in the mountains. I'm not sure that this is the real name, but that's what my sister called it, so that's what I'm gonna call it. We got there five minutes before closing time, but the nice guard let us stay for an extra 20 minutes. Now, you might be thinking that it's weird that they would close a national park; I know I was. They do that because the fog rolls down from the top of the mountain and is so thick that you can't see your hand in front of your face much less the beautiful view. When I say beautiful, I mean stunning. It's the kind of view that puts you in awe of how incredible God is. The mountains make you feel small; whereas, the lake creates a peaceful atmosphere. It is absolutely breathtaking!
Needless to say, Saturday was a breathtaking day full of adventure, awe, and praise.
