So when I arrived in Guayaquil, Ecuador, we stayed at my tía's house for a day, and then we drove about two hours to the city of Salinas. When I say we, I am referring to my host mom, my host dad, and me. Once in Salinas, I met one of my host brothers, Santiago. He is leaving for Germany in September. So after a few days in Salinas, my host mom, host dad, host brother, and I all went back to Guayaquil. At the time, I had no idea why. When we arrived at the airport, I was even more confused. Was Santiago leaving early? Were they sending me back to the States? I had no clue. But I soon figured out that we were picking up my host sister, Ari. She was on a plane back from Arizona where she had spent the past six weeks. We went and ate mi tía's restaurant, Nostra Casa. Food is amazing. But after savoring every bite of my lunch, the four of us returned to the airport. We had another family member to pick up. My oldest host brother Fabian David was in Germany (and if I understand things correctly,) because he just finished his exchange year. But I am probably totally wrong on that one.
I already have had moments that I never want to forget, singing We are in World in the grocery store with my host mom, the driving through the mountains, my host dad telling me that they are my family for the rest of the year and the rest or my life. So many little moments that I don't ever want to slip away, and I've only been here seven days!
