Last night, I met my host parents for the first time. They seem wonderful! They were so happy to see me, and they didn’t seem the least bit frustrated that my flight was delayed three hours. Once I had met my family, we got out of the airport pretty quick after that. My Host mom’s sister lives in Guayaquil, so we postponed the three hour drive to my new home in favor of a few hours of sleep. So now, I wait because today will bring a whole new round of adventure!
Well, I made it! Traveling yesterday went very smoothly until the last flight. In Miami, we boarded the plane on time, however little did we know the plane was broken. There was a crack in the cargo hold. The pilot informed us that they could just speed tape it, and we’d be on out way. And so we waited, and waited, and waited until one hour later, the crew asked us all to leavee the aircraft because it was unsafe to fly. So All passengers get off the plane (which took awhile) then we waited for a new plane (another half hour or so) then we all boarded the new plane. That plane worked and took us to Guayaquil. After all that happened, we landed at 4 am, approximately three hours late. My poor host family. However, I’m glad all this happened in Miami, because it was our last flight, and I met up with another 10 Rotary outbounds. Two of them were going to my city!!! All the students going to Ecuador seem so nice! We all get a;long so well, I can’t wait to get to know them more over the course of this year.

Today's the day. After a year of paperwork, patience, and a lot of prayer the day has finally arrived. Today I leave for Ecuador. It has been an emotional day so far and it's only the start. I just said good bye to my family for a full year, and in a little more than twelve hours, I will be surrounded by what is unfamiliar. As I sit in the airport, my emotions are all over the place. Excited, sad, tired, exhilarated. There are so many opportunities and blessings that will come of this. Although it hurts sitting in an airport alone knowing I won't see my family or anything familiar for a full year, I know that God has me right where He wants me, and He will use it for my good and the good of others. Today the adventure begins... |
AuthorI love Jesus, my family and baseball. Without my Savior I know I would defiantly not be the person I am today, and the same can be said about my family. My family is always there for me, and we all love three things for sure, Jesus, baseball, and each other. Categories
